The Aluminum Destacker (Ford Chicago Stamping Plant) above was created from every single mechanical detail 2d print from DCT, Inc. then constructed in AutoCAD. This entire model was created before the actual prints went to the fabricator. The upfront engineering alone saved the company over $150,000.00 in rework costs, not to bad for a single CAD Station 3D model. The model was also used throughout the operator's manual. The manual was also done in html and installed on the machine's computer monitoring and operator's station. The image below is an example of how big this job really was.
